Another party, another client, another mask. Just like last night, and the night before, and every night since years ago. One could say she enjoyed this once, but not now, when the nightmares were devouring her senses, leaving only fear. Fear of failure, fear or shame, fear of punishment. Every move, a step in the darkness, and she had no lantern to light her path.
But that night, her attention was drawn to something else. A young man was singing a children's song in the middle of the central square, but no one seemed to care. No one except her. She knew that song and hearing it again brought back memories of distant days, when she was a child and rightful owner of her own innocence. Or at least she thought she was.
"Snow, white snow Coming from the sky Are they Lonely tears? Or are they Fallen shards?"
She closed her eyes and sang along, softly. For a moment, her childhood was alive again. Without a sealed voice, without having what was hers being slowly taken away. Eternity lasted a couple of minutes. As the song ended, she opened her eyes and saw him, looking back at her, surprised. Letting out a wistful sight, she smiled and gave him a bow, saying.
"Thank you very much for giving me an opportunity to dream again."
He watched as his smaller, white kinfolk crossed the street and entered one of the teahouses, then whispered.
"Thank you for letting me dream as well."

This is a gift for someone who made me happy. The green mantis is his Blade Under Mask fancharacter, Yasuo. :3

This is just so pretty, I love the little story behind it. Reminds me of what happened to me in Massachusets. This old singer was singing this childhood song I learned in grade school, I'd remembered it because the tune was special to no one else but me sometimes. He was just playing his guitar and singing to to this little baby. I couldn't help but close my eyes and smile, singing quietly along with him. Its the childhood songs we remember that mean the most to us as we grow older....
:3 I love your art. It so rare for people to draw mantis anthros. It nice that you do them justices. (I would but I'm not that great at drawing them) so keep up the good work
