"The chill and melancholy cry of the wind calls to me, singing its song of past glory. The cold and dark stretch out endlessly before me, pulling me forward not to my doom, but to my destiny."

~~

Last night I had a sudden moment of inspiration and just couldn't let it go, so I whipped this little animation up! At first it was going to be a full painting, but I wanted to practice more the style I want for the Blade Under Mask comic, which focus on lighting and atmosphere and not so much on character detail.

I'm pretty happy with the coloring results! The animation was harder than usual because I'm not used to animating a illustration with lineart... and I tried to go the shorter way, thinking I could pull some elements off without what I usually do and well... it wasn't very good. Hahaha, definitely learned my lesson.

Song is Chinese... but I thought it'd fit, besides, Great Land is a fictional world and sure can have one or other elements borrowed from other cultures. xD

Full song is here, if anyone wants to know what it is. I don't claim ownership of it. Wind howl & leaf rustle downloaded from FreeSound.

Especial thanks to the ever amazing :iconmarcotonio-desu: :heart :3

Winter Asian decor, a bamboo forest, a night breeze.

This is a very talented Japanese-style success.
shading and night effect puts in embiance.

Asian music is a dream and a haven for the mind.

The bamboo forest is very popular for the Japanese style, but with the original winter.

The winter wind blowing through the leaves accompanied by sounds of nature makes feel nature near us.

The hair that dance in the wind is giving life, a beautiful fluidity.

The eyes are the window to the soul.

The Japanese lantern giving the warmth of the room, as the light of the night, the moonlight made a miraculous scene.

The antennas are made transparant air silk fabric which is very appreciated.

The colors are typical images of Japan, the realistic style we love very often.

The bamboo is a printing ink is very well done, it makes me want to do the calligraphy.

Congratulations praying mantis.

Keep with heart and soul.

I should really look at thumbnails more carefully next time. I was geared up for Ninjas and or Samurai but instead the ambient music revealed an anthopomorphic mantis girl looking back and revealing a bit of her more feminine features.
Gosh dar was I astonished, this is absolutely bloody beautiful in every aspect of its realization-the colors, the music, the gentle movements and the design!Yes especially the design reals me in and makes me stare. Anthropomorphics are tricky with some species and insects fall in that particular category. Not here, not this! Just plain gorgeous and imaginative design. Honestly I will now go check your gallery out because this mantis girl in the kimono captivated me. I cannot say anything more expcept a nice "cliche" WELL DONE!!!" Beautiful, just beautiful

Has anyone mentioned wanting to see this world as a movie yet? I really love the art and animations in your gallery. I've been going through just about all of it just sitting here amazed. It's clear how much passion you have for these characters. And it's all just so amazing, I want to see it as an actual film with the same kind of love and atmosphere you've used.
